Chrysler Master Tech Service Conference Library . . . .

In 1947 as a method to train dealership technicians on vehicle diagnostics and service procedures Chrysler Corporation introduced The Master Tech Service Conference program. Training materials were developed by Chrysler and sent to the dealer's service department so that training sessions could be conducted with their service technicians. Each month they covered a different topic and were developed so as to be simple and easy to understand. The training packs consisted of a filmstrip which is accompanied by a reference book that the service technicians used to test their knowledge after the training and as reference going forward.

The Master Tech series spokesman for excellence in Chrysler customer service was a small wooden puppet named "Tech" or "Mister Tech". With a gruff voice and no-nonsense approach, Tech provided the "Straight Dope" to the Chrysler service technicians and featured in the MTSC training material from 1947 to 1973. The MTSC training program continues to this day and is considered to be the longest running program of its kind in the auto industry. The MTSC training material is a valuable resource of information for the modern day classic Chrysler enthusiast.

Although the Chyrsler Master Tech Conference Library materials were directed at Chrysler Corporation products in the United States it still has relevance to Chrysler Australia products given the amount of US content in the vehicles for the period covered.

The movies and reference books while dated do provide some good tips for maintence of classic Chrysler vehicles. They can also be useful to those who are not formally trained technicians as they use plain and clear processes for testing, adjusting and carrying out repairs, ranging from understanding why your engine is puffing blue smoke to rigging your steering geometry correctly; everything from the front bumper to the rear bumper is covered in some shape of form in these training sessions.

If you know of information which is not listed please email us us so we can include the details.

The videos are created from the original film strips and accompanying record. The sound quality on some is very poor, but they still provide a valuable look into the history of Chrysler.

The PDF books vary in size and can take a few minutes to download depending on connection speed. The large size files are so that a good quality print version will be available. The materials are organised by year, click a link below to explore;
